| Saint Francis Cross after an unknown artist
This famous crucifix that formerly hung in the Chapel of San Damiano, now hangs adjacent to the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of the Basilica in Assisi. Because this crucifix inspired his conversion in 1205, the cross is beloved by admirers of St. Francis. Kneeling before it, he composed the following prayer that is considered to be among the oldest of his writings:
All Highest, Glorious God,
cast your light into the darkness
of my heart.
Give me right faith,
firm hope,
perfect charity,
and profound humility,
with wisdom and perception,
O Lord, so that I may do
what is truly your most holy will.
Amen. Mixed media drawing with 22-carat gold leaf 21" x 16" [Order] 8" x 6" [Order] Use the Buy Now button below to make your purchase online through Paypal. 21" x 16" 8" x 6" More information about using paypal is available here. Copyright © 2005 Sandra Bowden |
