A reworked photo of a fourteenth century crucifixion by Italian painter Maitrede San Francisco is the centerpiece for this mixed media collagraph. The entire text of Isaiah 53 has been handwritten on the print’s surface surrounding the crucifixion image. Beneath the cross is a facsimile of the Sanctus, from Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem, written for the rededication of Coventry Cathedral. These various elements give associations that invite the viewer to contemplate the Holy.
