Masada II

Masada II

A present day view of Masada looking east toward the Dead Sea. For three years Masada was a literal fortress for the Jewish Zealots fleeing Roman rule. Projecting from the tel itself is the Roman ramp constructed to capture the defense. In the foreground layered beneath the fortress are suggestions of various archaeological artifacts from this tel.
