The Last Supper

One of the most famous of all master pieces is The Last Supper, a mural in the Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milan. The Last Supper became famous as the first classic statement of the ideals of the High Renaissance. Architectural elements were of utmost importance to the Renaissance artist and many times dominated the composition. But in this piece Leonardo has begun with the figure composition: architecture and perspective support the central theme, Jesus. The central vanishing point is behind the head of Christ in the exact middle of the picture, charged with intense symbolic meaning.
