Masada II

A present-day view of Masada looking east toward the Dead Sea. For three years, Masada was a literal fortress for the Jewish Zealots fleeing Roman rule. The Roman ramp constructed to capture the defense is projected from the tel itself. In the foreground, layered beneath the fortress, are suggestions of various archaeological artifacts from this tel.
